Week 3: Tuesday Blog

During today’s workshop meeting, the Roboeagles had another successful and productive session! We had multiple different projects going on today, and it’s safe to say the numerous subteams made substantial progress. Everyone was hard at work, and we all improved on areas related to our robot and some other useful endeavors as well. Some robot-related tasks today included sewing fabric for the bumpers, motorizing the second stage of our two-stage elevator, and rectifying some complications regarding our swerve drive. In addition, our team accomplished other tasks such as officializing a solid media upload schedule, repairing the 3-D printer, and finalizing some options for our intake mechanism.
For the bumpers, we had a special guest come in to help us with sewing up our bumpers, so a huge shoutout to Ros’ grandma and her exceptional sewing skills! We made a wonderful amount of progress with those, and it was an absolute delight having Ros’ grandma join us. As far as the construction of the two-stage elevator, there was a thorough planning period to make sure it would function properly when combined with all the other mechanisms, and the group made a significant start. To assemble and motorize the second stage of the elevator, the team planned to install sprockets and bearings on either side of the elevator, and then add chains to connect it to our Falcon motors. We did run into some unforeseen issues here and there, but all was worked out in the end. Ultimately, today’s workshop was very constructive, and overall, lots of fun!
